Grow Food Kids Spring Workshops at the Giving Garden

We are excited to announce a series of in-person springtime workshops for youth ages 8-12, at Grow Food Northampton’s Giving Garden!

Each workshop will feature a recipe prepared on site, and we will explore and interact with the garden as we learn about pollinators, plant parts, and more.

Grow Food Kids

Be the Bee: Dandelion Honey

May 21st, 4:00-5:30 pm.

Visit the beehives for an interactive lesson on pollinators, and learn how to prepare syrupy “dandelion honey” from native flowers.

Roots & Shoots: Wild Pesto

May 28th, 4:00-5:30 pm.

Spend time in the Giving Garden to harvest chives, and discover some of the wild edible greens growing in the fields and woods around us, which we will turn into a tasty pesto.

Pick & Preserve: Strawberry Rhubarb Jam

June 4th, 4:00-5:30 pm.

Prepare a strawberry rhubarb jam, and learn about the value of preserving the seasonal harvest!

Standard covid-safety social distancing guidelines will be followed, and masks are required. Please wear close-toed shoes, and appropriate clothing for outdoor play and garden work.

To register, or for more information, email jules@growfoodnorthampton.org.

Space is limited, so sign up early!

If you are interested in volunteering as an adult chaperone, please make a note of that in your email.
