Living History Garden Opening Gathering

August 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us to hear stories, try foods from the garden, and lift up seed-saving as an act of food sovereignty!

In our Living History Garden this year, we are growing 19 different crops (explore them here!), each of which highlight seed saving as a tool for food sovereignty amid enslavement, forced migration, and colonization.

These crops were requested by members of our community, or tell important stories of our time, and carry the weight of history, sharing about the people who have cared for them across generations, and bridge us to the future by continuing to grow these crops.

Please join us to explore some of these crops more closely by hearing stories about the crops themselves, as well as stories of migration, displacement, and belonging. We will also sample some foods made with crops from the garden, and invite others to share about their own connections to meaningful crops and food sources.

This event is free and open to the public! Please register here.
