Managing Extreme Heat in your Garden

July 14 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
A full garden with wooden trellises, many different kinds of flowers and vegetables growing together in nontraditional patterns and shapes and using cardboard as mulch.

Join GFN farmer and climate scientist Connor Stedman for a workshop on how to manage extreme heat in your growing spaces!

With climate change increasing temperatures, it is more important than ever to understand why extreme heat happens, how to retain moisture and protect your plants, and how to keep yourself safe while working outside.

In this free workshop, we’ll learn strategies for mitigating heat, when (and how much) to water certain crops, and unpack the climate science behind this increase in hotter weather. We’ll also observe some of the techniques already in use in the community garden, and leave time for you to strategize how to use these practices in your own gardens!

Free and open to the public – please register here!
