Teaching with the Living History Garden

September 29, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - September 30, 2025 @ 5:30 pm

Northampton Public School teachers are invited to join us for a tour of Grow Food Northampton’s Living History Garden – a collection of crops from around the world that tell stories of seed sovereignty, agriculture, trade, and migration, including local Florence abolitionist history, Massachusetts indigenous history, the history of agriculture in Mesopotamia, and modern struggles among immigrant communities for food sovereignty in the U.S.

Explore the garden and meet with other NPS teachers to make farm and food-based connections to your curriculum, and talk with staff from Grow Food Northampton about how we can support your lessons with learning materials (plants, seeds, food, etc.), guest teaching, and/or field trips to the farm.
Enjoy some cider, donuts, and fall harvest snacks from the garden, and earn a $50 River Valley Co-op gift card for attending!
We are hosting 2 separate events: – Space is limited to 10 teachers per event, please register if you are sure you can attend:
