Even though it’s summer, we’ve continued to put together packets of activities and more for Northampton families to enjoy at home. We include these in the Summer Meals distributed by the Northampton Public Schools and at our Community Food Distributions. Check out the latest activities below plus links to our past supplements for hours of fun! Send us photos of you making the recipes or doing the activities via email, Facebook or Instagram– we’d love to see!
About Summer Meals:
Schools may be closed but school meals are still available this summer! Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11-12pm, students and families can stop by any of the meal sites to pick up fresh meals. Adult meals are provided by Haymarket Cafe, and Belly of the Beast with items sourced from Iconica Cafe, Homestead, and India House restaurant – a true community effort! Grow Food Northampton is also proud to support NPS Summer Meals in purchasing more local fruits and veggies. Some items already purchased include Blueberries from Warner Farm, Strawberries from Nourse Farms, Lettuce from Kitchen Garden Farm, and Squash from Red Fire Farm, and many more!!
And it doesn’t end there – there’s a bonus to visiting a school meals site! Anyone who picks up meals will be given a raffle punch card. After 10 visits you’ll be entered to win some amazing grand prizes! Grand prizes include gift certificates to Sam’s Outdoor Outfitters, Northampton Bicycle, and a gift basket from Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters. Small prizes also available to all who visit, on a first come first serve basis.
