July 5th at Tuesday Market

Happy 4th of July, Tuesday Market Friends!
I hope your picnics and barbecues are full of local food! This is the time of year where we are truly spoiled! Berries for your shortcake, tomato slices on your burger, lettuces for every taste, cucumbers (and so much more!) to pickle, cabbages for slaw…I could go on!

This week we will have music by Acoustic Breezes. Check out a preview here.
We will also have a visit from Circus Smirkus from 3-5pm. They will bring some extra juggling props and hula hoops for kids to try and will be selling tickets to the circus. You will be able to spin our spinning wheel for a chance to win tickets too!
Old Friends Farm is selling ginger plants so that you can have the experience of growing your own ginger! I planted one in a pot on my deck last summer. It was a nice looking plant all summer and then very fun for my children and I to dig up the ginger root in the fall! We made tea with the greens, sautéed them in a stir fry and kept the roots in the freezer to use all winter.
Leyden Glen Lamb has a tested-and-approved burger recipe on their blog for your summer meal planning. Browse their site for more recipes and inspiration and visit their spot at market each week for more recipes and ideas.
Help us to spread the word about the SNAP and Save Program which is allowing us to match $10 in SNAP money each week. That means that SNAP customers get $20 for a $10 withdrawal of SNAP benefits each week at the market (Thank you CISA and Healthy Hampshire!). SNAP tokens can be used for anything SNAP eligible, including meat, fruits, vegetables, honey, maple, cheese, bread, granola and plant starts.  Stop by the purple market tent to learn more.
