Desislava Stoyanova is a rising junior at Smith College, double majoring in Economics and Environmental Science & Policy. She is interested in pursuing a career as an environment lawyer and a social justice activist. She was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Desi says, “I wanted to intern for GFN because I believed that it would be a great opportunity for me to learn a lot about organic farming, sustainability, and food access programming which I consider essential for the field of environmental policy. I though that my internship would help me pick a specific focus within my major, and only a few weeks after I started I realized how important economic understanding is for my future goals. So, I declared my second major (Economics) and decided to focus on urban development and environmental economics. So far, I have learned a lot about communicating with different people and public speaking in general.”
