A Farm Celebration and Local Food Feast
Thu, June 20, 2019
5:30 PM – 8:30 PM EDT
Grow Food Northampton Organic Community Garden
140 Meadow Street, Northampton
Wheelhouse will return to the Northampton Community Farm for another glorious 4-course gourmet dinner sourced from local farms, featuring those we lease land to and others who sell at our Tuesday Market. Arrive on time for a short guided tour of our 290-plot Community Garden, Giving Garden, and Sawmill Herb Farm with Grow Food Northampton Executive Director, Clem Clay. (Check out our blog post and the Hampshire Daily Gazette’s article on our June, 2017, dinner!)
BYOB: No alcohol will be served, but you are welcome to bring your own beverage.
The Northampton Community Farm was established in 2011 when Grow Food Northampton purchased 120 acres of protected farmland in the heart of Florence. Most land is leased to several farmers, but we also manage a large communty garden and a Giving Garden that grows tons of organic produce for soup kitchens and food pantries. Guests will see all parts of this operation and its gorgeous setting on a short walk before dinner.
The (tentative) Local Food Menu:
Lemon verbena sweet tea
Shiitake, oyster mushroom, and ricotta potato roll
Young spinach, strawberry, Cricket Creek feta, candied walnuts, red onion, and cranberry-cider vinaigrette
Omnivore: Cabernet braised short ribs from Poplar Hill, celeriac puree, and balsamic glazed carrots
Vegetarian: Walnut crostata with asparagus, fennel, garlic scapes, and ricotta, served with balsamic glazed carrots and young brassica greens
Berry pie with fresh brandied whipped cream
PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, YOU SHOULD SEND AN EMAIL TO clem[at]growfoodnorthampton.com AFTER PURCHASING YOUR TICKETS. (EventBrite has changed their pricing and would charge us an extra $3 per ticket to collect extra information at the time of purchase!)
Join us for a delicious evening at the farm!
Many thanks to Northampton Rental Center for sponsoring the event by providing a tent if weather requires it!
