Sponsor Grow Food Northampton’s Food Access Program
3,000 households in Northampton are food insecure. Pandemic food security funding and benefits are being cut this year, even while families continue to struggle. That means more of our neighbors will go hungry, unless we take action.
Grow Food Northampton distributes 400,000 pounds of free farm foods each year to hundreds of community members who are experiencing food insecurity. All of that food is purchased from 60 local farms, putting $900,000 dollars into the local food economy. We also offer a dollar for dollar match to SNAP (food stamp) recipients at our farmers markets, helping families stretch their benefits on healthy, local products.
By supporting Grow Food Northampton’s Food Access Program, sponsors are essential partners in this effort. They receive significant exposure via year-round promotion, including at GFN’s two farmers markets, the downtown Tuesday Market and the Winter Market at the Senior Center. Named “Best Farmers Market in the Valley” by Valley Advocate readers for nine years running, as many as a thousand shoppers visit Tuesday Market each week.
