Tuesday Market News for May 23, 2017

It looks like we will have beautiful weather for Tuesday Market again this week. Make a stop from 1:30-6:30, stay a while if you can!

As you stroll around the market this week, you’ll find a variety of vegetables and the first of the year’s strawberries (warning: they’ll go fast!). You can stock up on staples like maple syrup and honey, sample some cheeses, grab a loaf of bread and some eggs….and perhaps, a popsicle!

There’s still a huge selection of plant starts for your garden. Now is the time!

All the fresh food coming from our farms is inspiring for cooking! What have you been cooking up with your groceries from Tuesday Market? Tag us on Facebook or Instagram to share or stop by the market tent to tell us about it! We will be sharing more kitchen inspiration throughout the season.

Want to get in on a fun way to celebrate the growing season?

Grow Food Northampton is hosting a Farm-to-Table Dinner coming up on on Sunday, June 4th. Wheelhouse Catering will provide an intimate, gourmet 4-course meal at Crimson and Clover Farm in Florence. The menu is set and it looks delicious! Head over to the Eventbrite page for more information and to buy tickets. Follow along and invite friends on Facebook.

Tuesday Market accepts SNAP benefits and will be matching SNAP purchases up to $10 for the first 6 markets of the season. During those 6 weeks, Grow Food Northampton and Tuesday Market will work to educate SNAP customers about the new Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) and how to best utilize it.
HIP is a three-year program which will match SNAP recipients’ purchases of local fruits and vegetables at participating farmers’ markets, mobile markets, farms stands, and CSAs. The HIP benefit will provide $40-$80 per month to SNAP users, depending on household size. Customers can learn more about this exciting new local food benefit by stopping by the purple market tent at Tuesday Market or by clicking HERE
