You have one last chance to savor Tuesday Market for 2017!
It will be odd next Tuesday to not be prepping, packing and setting up Tuesday Market, as we’ve done for the last 30 weeks. The enthusiasm, community and delicious local food is as abundant as ever, but the shortened daylight, low temperatures and winter weather are signaling that it’s time to pack things up until spring.
This was the second year of Grow Food Northampton’s ownership of the market and that connection really solidified this season. The market is stronger because of it. Each week we had a representative from GFN at the market tent to run the spinning wheel, help with special projects and to let folks know about all of the good work that is happening under the Grow Food Northampton umbrella. Thanks to all the interns, work-study students, Americorps Service Members and staff members who have made the market family much bigger this year!
It has been a fabulous season with many highlights, big and small. We’ve felt the excitement around the market when beloved crops made their first appearances, none more thrilling than when peaches returned this summer after a two year hiatus! So many talented musicians filled our space with music. We hosted a delicious series of cooking demonstrations and were honored to work with Emmett Leader who raised over $3,000 for our SNAP Matching. We celebrated Fourth of July and Halloween at Tuesday Market this year. Our spinning wheel was spun thousands of times!A quick look through the photos taken this year makes clear that memories are made at Tuesday Market! There was the guy who played impromptu ukulele at our first market of the year, that time in August when a middle-schooler named Corbin tap-danced for tips and the chalk art that was found hidden in the market plaza after downtown Northampton’s chalk art festival in September (it’s still there, though faded!) and so many little moments in between. Browse through some of memories of the season gone by…
Thank you to our vendors who are the shining stars of Tuesday Market! We are so lucky to have such a talented, hard-working, creative, professional and kind group of vendors.
Finally, many thanks to YOU for being a friend of the market! If you have a minute, you can help us by giving your feedback via our 2017 Customer Survey.
