It’s the third week of our Summer Chef Series! This week we welcome Joy Howard who will teach us how to cook Collards and Andouille with Farro . Joy is a friend of the market and freelance food stylist, writer, and recipe developer. Find out what she’s eating for dinner and view snapshots of her latest projects on Instagram.

We are very lucky to have three terrific partners for the Summer Chef Series. The event is sponsored by culinary agency The Lisa Ekus Group, Northampton’s cooking store, The Baker’s Pin and River Valley Co-op. Thank you to these local businesses for helping to bring this fun and also educational series to Northampton.

Fall crops continue to find their way to market. There’s always something new to see as you stroll through. This week we welcome Revival Homestead Supply and Hosta Hill after a short break. These two businesses compliment each other. Revival can help you get started with home fermenting and Hosta Hill has done it for you! Stop by Hosta Hill for samples of sauerkraut, kimchi and more.
Red Barn Honey will have comb honey available for sale this week and for as long as it lasts!
This coming Sunday, September 10, Grow Food Northampton is hosting a fantastic gourmet dinner prepared by Wheelhouse, featuring ingredients from farmers who lease our land and sell at Tuesday Market.  It’s sure to be a beautiful night, in a lovely setting, the GFN Organic Community Garden. Info, menu and tickets here!
Every summer at Sweet Birch Herbals, they harvest calendula flowers from the farm to make infused oils. Calendula is soothing, moisturizing, antiseptic, and repairs skin cells. It is the base for most of their products like Luscious Lip Balm, Lavender and Rose Creams. Stop by the market to try their products and ask about upcoming classes!

Along with supporting the roll-out of HIP, Grow Food Northampton has provided funding for our SNAP matching at the market tent each week. So far this year we have matched just under $6,000 of SNAP benefits at the market tent. We are currently matching up to $5 per customer, per market.
We are now seeking sponsors to fund the remaining 10 markets and to help sustain this valuable program. This week, our SNAP Matching is sponsored by The Farm Education Collaborative.  According to their mission, their programs aim to “nurture the seeds of earth stewardship for young and old alike while connecting people to local food, our shared agricultural heritage, and to one another”. We thank them for helping to to make local food accessible to all people!

The following farms are currently processing HIP at Tuesday Market: Crabapple Farm, Wingate Farm, Red Fire Farm, Old Friends Farm, Hart Farm and Park Hill Orchard.

Stop by the purple market tent to learn more!
If you know someone who receives SNAP benefits, make sure they’re in the know- tell them about HIP
