Tuesday Market Summer Chef Series
The Tuesday Market Summer Chef Series kicks off on August 22, 2017. Each week for 6 weeks market-goers can enjoy a cooking demonstration using ingredients from around the farmers’ market, prepared by a talented and well-known lineup of local chefs. The demonstrations will be at 5pm each week. Many of our guest chefs are cookbook authors. Their books will be available for sale at the market tent and the chefs will be available to sign books after the demo.
Our first guest chef will be Mary Reilly, publisher of Edible Pioneer Valley and executive chef of dining services at Westfield State College. Then on August 29th we will welcome Deanna Cook, author of dozens of children’s books including Cooking Class, Baking Class, and Farmers Market Create-and- Play Activity Book. We begin September with a visit from Joy Howard, food stylist, freelance writer and recipe developer, on September 5th. Our fourth guest chef will be Betty Rosbottom who will be sharing a recipe from her cookbook Soup Nights. On September 19th we welcome well-known herbalist Brittany Nickerson who will share a recipe from her recently released book Recipes from the Herbalist’s Kitchen. That book and Brittany’s first book, The Herbal Homestead Journal will both be available for purchase. We will wrap up the series on September 29th with talented James Beard Award winner and author of Lighten Up, Y’all, Bon Appétit, Y’all, Basic to Brilliant, Y’all, Okra, and Grits, Virginia Willis. Virginia will share her southern flair with our Northampton audience.
We are very lucky to have three terrific partners for the Summer Chef Series. The event is sponsored by culinary agency The Lisa Ekus Group, Northampton’s cooking store, The Baker’s Pin and River Valley Co-op. Thank you to these local businesses for helping to bring this fun and also educational series to Northampton. Our abundant market will be even more vibrant for 6 weeks as we welcome each special chef.
Each week will be unique! Plan your visit to the market around 5pm to catch the demo of the week.
