Tuesday Market This Week! 5/8/18!

It was a colorful weekend for this market manager! Saturday was Northampton’s Pride Day and a beautiful day for it! It was great to see so many market friends in the crowd and marching in the parade! Sunday was a great day for a drive out to Leyden Glen Farm to celebrate the release of Kristin Nicholas’ newest book Crafting a Patterned Home. Kristin’s farmhouse is inspiringly decorated, with so much color and vibrancy around every corner! Kristin is at Tuesday Market every week selling their farm’s lamb. Stop by their booth to check out the new book!

More and more local food is arriving at the market each week. Last week saw the arrival of radishes, ramps and fiddlehead ferns! If you’re there early this week you might find some asparagus, which has been popping up at roadside stands in the Valley in the last few days. Other local veggies that are available now are spinach, lettuce mix, pea shoots (pictured below), micro-greens and many storage crops from last fall.

We will have a huge selection of plants starting this week with the addition of Bare Roots Farm from Worthington. In addition to Bare Roots, look for plants at Red Fire Farm, Crabapple Farm, Old Friends Farm and Wild Rose Farm. It’s that time of year, get planting!

This year Hart Farm is expanding their CSA delivery services to include West County in Franklin County. You likely know Hart Farm’s Anna Meyer from Tuesday Market. Check out this great article in the Greenfield Recorder with some great background about Anna, the farm and this new service.
Youth performers from SHOW Circus Studio will be roving the market this week! To see more of them, check out Circus of the Stars, a family-friendly out-of-this-world circus show at the Academy of Music in Northampton MA on Sunday June 3rd, 2018 at 4pm. Blast off with intrepid acrobats as they journey throughout the galaxy to discover brave new worlds, fantastic creatures, and feats beyond the imagination. Purchase tickets at aomtheater.com.
