Piyush Labhsetwar has been working in the field of regenerative agriculture since 2017 on projects such as the development of perennial grains and integrating them into agroforestry and perennial ground cover. He joined Grow Food Northampton as the Farm and Land Stewardship Manager in 2024. Before being hired at Grow Food Northampton, since 2022, Piyush had leased a third of an acre on the GFN Community Farm right next to the Mill River to establish an experiment in integrating perennial grains (Kernza) in an agroforestry setting with pawpaw as the tree crop.
Piyush is committed to using agroecological practices to improve the ecological outcomes of our farming practices at Grow Food Northampton, improve land access on our Community Farm, and demonstrate the connection between the two. He envisions his role as a steward of interventions by the community to heal our relationship with the land.
